Big news if you are a Canon pro user. The 5D Mark IV is slotted to be announced on August 25th. The word out in the market is that the camera is already being shipped out of Japan as you read this. The 5D Mark IV will replace the very popular 5D Mark III. The 5D Mark IV will be priced around $4300, making it a significant investment for any type of user. The specs of the 5D Mark IV had been shared previously.
Two new lenses are also likely to be announced the same day the Canon 5D Mark IV gets formally announced. These would likely be the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L III USM and the 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM. Specs of these lenses are –
EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM
- 16 elements including 2 UD lens and 3 aspherical lens arranged in 11 groups
- A bunch of lens coating including SWC, ASC and the dirt and grime repelling fluorine coating
- A total of 9 circular aperture blades
- Front element 82mm in diameter (filter specification)
- Ring-type USM auto-focusing
- Full-time manual focusing
- Minimum focusing distance of 0.28m
- The lens bears the L acronym which suggests that it is dust and dirt proof
EF 24-105mm f/4L II USM
- 17 elements including 4 spherical elements arranged in 12 groups
- ASC and fluorine coating
- Minimum focusing distance of the lens is 0.45m
- A total of 10 aperture blades
- Front element diameter 77mm (filter specification)
- Powered by ring-type USM auto-focusing
- Full-time auto-focusing
- Dust and water proof
Along with these two lenses a host of other accessories would also be likely announced by Canon on the same day.
