Out of the five rumored lenses to be arriving sometime in the middle of the year Samyang has officially announced the first. It is the 135mm T/2.2 Xeen. The 135mm T/2.2 joins an already decent line-up of lenses including the 14mm T/3.1, 24mm T/1.5, and the 35mm, 50mm and 85mm T/1.5.
The Xeen is a professional line-up of cine lenses from Samyang that debuted in 2015. These lenses are designed for the discerning filmmaker with excellent optical quality for high resolution 4K output. Frame coverage is for full-frame 36 x 24mm sensors. The aperture and focus rings on all of the Xeen lenses are at standardized positions. This allows you a high degree of familiarity when using these lenses.
Plus, they feature a declicked gear mechanism for follow-focus systems. All of these lenses have a fast aperture, including the 135mm T/2.2. The 135mm T/2.2 has a 11 circular aperture blades. Coupled with the fast aperture they produce beautiful background blur for your close-in shots and works perfectly for defocusing the background.
Samyang produces these lenses for a variety of mounts including the Canon EF, Nikon F and Sony E. the best thing about these lenses are that the mounts are interchangeable. That means you can mount the same lens on a variety of cameras.
