Along with the recently announced FE 50mm F1.4 ZA Sony also recently confirmed the shipping dates of the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master lens. Announced earlier this year the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master Lens fits in the role of a medium range telephoto zoom lens and directly competes with some of the best lenses in this segment, both from Canon and Nikon. It is now officially the flagship telephoto zoom lens in the Sony stable.
Some of the features of the lens includes optical image stabilization, a constant quick aperture of f/2.8 across the focal length, a focus delimiter switch, AF/MF switch and a dual-mode selector switch. Also launched with this lens are the two new 1.4x and 2.0x tele-converters. These are the SEL14TC and the SEL20TC.
The FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master lens is compatible with both of these. When you add the 1.4x or the 2.0x tele-converters the lens becomes a 35mm focal length equivalent of 98 – 280 and 140 – 400mm respectively, albeit with a loss of a few stops of maximum aperture. It thus, becomes a handy lens for shooting both portraits as well as wildlife when you have at least one of the tele-converters in your bag.
The FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master lens, the SEL14TC and the SEL20TC tele-converters will all be shipping out this July.
