If you are a fan of the medium tele-zoom Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lens you are in for a surprise. It seems Nikon is in the process to replace this lens by the end of the year. There have been rumors circulating for some time that a prototype 70-200mm Nikkor is being tested. Nikon currently sells the AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II at a price just a shade over $2000. It will be interesting to see what new changes / features Nikon brings in with the new avatar of this extremely popular lens. It would be equally interesting to see if Nikon drops the price of the existing 70-200mm f/2.8.
