For those of you who have been using the Canon 5D series cameras or following its development keenly, this will definitely interest you. Big news! Canon has quietly registered the 5D Mark IV in Indonesia. At least it seems that way, based on the code name that has been used by the company to register a new camera.
The code name in question is DS126601. Canon Rumors states that it is beyond doubt related to the 5D Mark IV. Camera manufacturers often register products with certificating authorities and others for compliance purposes. But they use code names when doing so. This is just to throw off prying eyes from scouting information available on public sites such as these and prevent them from predicting their future launches. It is understood that Canon has previously used this code name before. It was used as an internal identifying tag for the 5D Mark IV.
Beyond doubt, the DS126601 is the coveted replacement for the extremely popular 5D Mark III. The 5D Mark IV announcement can come as soon as in Photokina. Now that the camera has been registered with the Indonesian Certificate Authority there are little doubts regarding that.
